Simavita is a healthcare company dedicated to the care and quality of life of the ageing. It had a revolutionary concept for remote monitoring and management of incontinence in aged care facilities, to improve the quality of life of sufferers and to reduce the cost of clinical care.

Solution
Procept provided a complete design service including system architecture development, hardware and software design and system testing.  The SIMsystem includes:

• Small wireless body-worn sensors (SIMpad)
• A precision sensor interface for real time data analysis
• Wireless mesh network connectivity that accommodates constantly-moving sensors
• Capacity to support over 30 sensors over a wide area
• Operates continuously for at least 100 hours before the need for charging
• Software to manage the system, monitoring continuously and recording any voiding events (SimSystem)
• The SIM® network meets the essential requirements of the Australian1 & European2 standards.
• It is approved for use in healthcare facilities.

Results
The SimSystem is now used by aged care facilities in Australia and has won numerous awards including:

• 2010/11 ANZ Innovation Award for Medical and Healthcare won for Simavita
• 2009 No 14 in Anthill Magazine 100 Most Promising Innovations for Simavita
• 2009 Chicago Atheneum Good Design won for SimPAD
• 2008 People’s Choice, New Inventors won for SimPAD
